Agriculture Development Program

It has been implementing agriculture development program in all working Upazillas with the support of DAE/World Bank, IFAD/DAE, FKP-IDB, FAO/World Bank, FAO/GoB, Japan Embassy from 1999 and continuing. Details are given below :

Agriculture Projects :


i) Bangladesh Integrated Nutrition Program for 6 years amounting Tk.165,00,000.00 supported by DAE/World Bank in 13 Upazillas covering 3000,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on modern and scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports, and marketing development including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.


ii) National Nutrition Program (NNP) for 6 years amounting Tk.150,00,00,000.00 supported by World Bank/MoHFW in 35 Upazillas covering 3000,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, different group formation like mothers group, adolescents’ groups, farmers’ groups, fathers’ groups, ABCN (area based community nutrition) activities, primary health education, nutrition education, work crushing, blindness prevention, safe mother, MCH education, training on modern and scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports, poultry rearing, cow rearing, fish cultivation, and marketing development including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.

iii) Small Scale Agriculture Development Program Gopalgonj, Madaripur, Shariatpur and Priojpur for 2 years amounting Tk.62,50,000.00 supported by DAE in one Upazilla covering 250,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on modern and scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports & marketing dev. including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.


iv) Small Scale Agriculture Development Program Barisal, Patuakhali, Barguna and Jhalakathi for 2 years amounting Tk.62,50,000.00 supported by DAE in one Upazillas covering 300,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on modern and scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports & marketing dev. including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.

v) ADIP (Agriculture Diversification and Intensification Project) for 8 years amounting Tk.305,00,000.00 supported by DAE/IFAD in 2 Upazillas covering 600,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, diversification of crops, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports & marketing dev. including follow up, supervision and monitoring.


vi) Agro-Inputs support project for 9 years amounting Tk.2165,45,000.00 supported by IDB/FKP in 12 Upazillas covering 3000,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on modern and scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports, poultry rearing, cow rearing, fish cultivation, agriculture machineries, boats, beetle leaf cultivation, rickshaw-vans, and marketing development including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.

vii) Agro-based inputs support project for SIDR affected people in Bhola for 18 months amounting Tk.8,25,30,000.00 supported by FAO/DAE/DLS/EU in 2 Upazillas covering 450,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on scientific vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports, poultry rearing, cow rearing, fish cultivation, agriculture machineries, boats, beetle leaf cultivation, rickshaw-vans, and marketing development including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.


viii) Agro Based Inputs and Income Generating Project for SIDR affected people for 3 years amounting Tk.107,00,000.00 supported by ICCO-Netherlands in 2 Upazillas covering 560,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on modern vegetable and fruit tree cultivation, nursery development, homestead vegetable cultivation, vegetable cultivation, fruit tree plantation, horticulture development, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports, poultry rearing, cow rearing, fish cultivation, agriculture machineries, boats, beetle leaf cultivation, rickshaw-vans, and marketing development including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.

ix) Agro-Machineries Support for Landless Farmers for 3 years amounting Tk.83,50,000.00 supported by Japan Embassy in 2 Upazillas covering 580,000 population and the main activities were: Motivation and awareness raising, training on modern agriculture, and vegetable, homestead vegetable cultivation, HYV seeds/seedling supply, fertilizer supply, crops diversifications, linkage building seminar, workshops, micro-credit supports, transport supports, stocking supports, agriculture machineries (Power Irrigation Machine, Power Tiller, Power Spray, Power Threshers and Mini-Truck) installation), transportation services and marketing development including follow up, supervision, and monitoring.
