Health and Hygiene is an on-going program of the organization. It was started from 1987 and has been continuing as a common program among the all the organized groups and also in the community women. So, all the fields have been covered with this program, because, through weekly group meetings all the community people and the group members are made aware on health and hygiene. This program is supported by DoHFW, NNP, KIA, GM, ICCO, SKN, APHD and Andheri Hilfe form 1993 and already more than 1,11,00,000 people have been made aware on health, nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, family welfare, mother and child health care, EPI, etc. and they are practicing regularly and improved health status.
VOSD has implemented a project named “Hand Washing Project (Promoting safer Hygiene Behaviour among RMG Workers in Bangladesh with the support of BSF-Germany :
VOSD started project activities among the RMG workers in Bangladesh, Shortly, Hand washing project in June 2017. The main objective of the project is to Improving Health and Hygiene practices among the selected RMG workers through creating common and comprehensive understanding, achieving Sustainable Development Goal. Hand washing project is a short-term project but the success and achievements are very significant if it is look at the achievements. Area covered : RMG factories under Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayangong, Ashulia, Tongi, Savar, Norshingdi, Comilla, Chittagong. Total garments contacted: More than 100 RMG factories contacted during baseline study and during project implementation period RMG workers covered: 200,000 (Largest coverage in the workplace (RMG factories) intervention related to WASH in Bangladesh. Baseline study design and conduction: A scientific baseline study on WASH among RMG Workers designed and conducted and findings Disseminated in Project launching ceremony at Pan pacific Sonargaon Hotel in July’17 successfully. It is the ever first WASH study among RMG workers in Bangladesh. Project Inception and sharing meeting: A total of 20 Project Inception and sharing meeting Held at large sized of the RMG factories. 427 senior level garments officials, RMG owners Participated the project inception and sharing meeting held at the garment level, Liquid hand wash supply/distribution: 24723litres hand wash /month is being distributed in 75 RMG factories. It has been distributed more than 48000litres hand wash since September’17 to mid of November’17. Hand wash Dispenser installation: A total of 1901 dispensers have been installed in 75 RMG factories to cover 200000 RMG workers BCC/IEC activities: A total of 100 BCC/IEC sessions conducted where 2336 RMG workers participated since August-October’17. Materials design/development: Two number of posters and a leaflet have been Designed. Two posters have been Printed and being distributed in targeted RMG Factories.
