VOSD’s first priority is awareness raising and basic education for all group members and the children. VOSD has been provided and providing awareness raising and basic literacy education activities from 1987 and made aware and literate to 133,000 members, 7400 youths and 17500 children with the support of BRAC, BNFE, APHD, Andheri Hilfe, GM, ICCO, UNDP/DSS, UNICEF, SKN-I & KIA. Now it has been running 120 education centres for adults and children. BNFE Supported Program: OOSC-Second Chance Education Pilot Program:
VOSD had been implemented Second Chance Education Pilot Program supported by BNFE, MoE, the GoB from October, 2019 following ABAL Model, Cohort Model, Multi-Grade Model and SHIKHON Model recommended by BNFE in Kishoregonj, and Dhaka Districts very successfully. It had run 323 centres for 9690 learners by 323 Teachers, 27 Supervisors, 5 Monitoring Officers and one Project Manager. The learners are very happy to attend classes, because, they were learning lessons in a friendly atmosphere with extra-curriculum activities like games and sports, recitations, singing, dancing, drawing etc. They are attending classes regularly and the guardians are also happy the education system of VOSD.
It has also been making them and guardians aware about social, economic, culture, and environment. They are becoming vocal, capable, and sound in literal and counting knowledge that have encouraged them for education. The education system is appreciated by the local community, elites, leaders, administrations and government departments and they have been extending all sorts of cooperation to implement the project activities at the field levels. It is hoped that the project will be successful and fulfill the SDG goal of the Government of Bangladesh.
